The challenge
Flight prices change every day, and checking them by hand before each trip takes time. Our founder wanted to set an alert once and hear back only when it was worth buying, without installing another app.
What we did
- Built a mini app inside Telegram to set alerts without leaving the chat: route, month, travellers, nights and a top price. Saving one checks fares on the spot.
- Added an airport search by city, country or code that only lists direct flights from the origin.
- Wrote a daily job that checks prices every morning, keeps the history in a database and sends a quiet summary with the three cheapest round trips, each with a booking button.
- Made it message with sound only when the total drops below the top price, hits a new low or the best time to buy begins: 13 to 6 weeks before the month of the trip.
- Put it all in one Cloudflare Worker with a D1 database, on the free plan. Only our founder’s Telegram account can open it.
A personal tool our founder built and uses. The airline is left out on purpose, and the prices shown are examples.
The result
Farebird checks fares every morning without anyone opening a website, and only makes a sound when it is worth buying. The same pattern works for any business that wants customers or staff to act from a chat: bookings, order or stock alerts and daily reports.
